Anyone can register for membership. There are several types of accounts, and registration offers many advantages.
We allow and encourage posting of comments with registration (try to keep it civil), which is our "basic" account. Accounts can and will be suspended for gross violations of "try to keep it civil," but in general you may comment as frequently and as vociferously as you please.
"Try to keep it civil" means, among other things, don't post hard-core pornography, copyrighted material and/or hate speech. Besides blocking or deleting an account, we also reserve the right to delete highly offensive posts whether or not your account is active, blocked or deleted.

Additional account statuses include "author," which allows for the creation of posts which appear on the site and in our rss feed (who needs a blog when you're an author?), "moderator," the hated one, and "administrator," which grants one site-wide omnipotence. Registered users who wish to become authors, moderators or administrators must first register for a basic account, anyway, so what are you waiting for?
